The Cambridge Military Hospital

The Conservatives closed the Cambridge Hospital in 1995 yet work to build the promised Centre for Health to replace it has only just started!

AFTER ten years' delay, Aldershot is finally to get its new health centre.

The Conservative Government closed the Cambridge Military Hospital (right) in 1995 despite bitter opposition and a 40,000 name petition.

At the time the Tories promised a new "Centre for Health" for Aldershot but work has only just started - ten years too late.

Lib Dem campaigner Adrian Collett welcomed the news but added:

'A "Minor Injuries Unit" was also promised so that people would not have to travel to distant hospitals like Frimley Park. The current proposal does not fund that, so the fight goes on.'
